Diamond Cut Alloy Wheels – Step-by-Step Process
-
1. Inspection & Preparation
The wheels are first inspected for any damage. Tyres are removed, and the wheel is cleaned thoroughly to remove any dirt, brake dust, or grease.
-
2. Stripping the Old Finish
The existing paint or lacquer is stripped off using a chemical solution or shot blasting, exposing the bare metal surface.
-
3. Damage Repair
Any kerb damage, scratches, or dents are repaired to restore the shape of the wheel before the cutting process begins.
-
4. Base Coating
A base colour (usually grey, black, or another selected shade) is applied and then cured in an oven. This forms the background for the diamond cut face.
-
5. Precision Diamond Cutting
The wheel is mounted on a specialist CNC lathe. A fine layer of metal is precisely cut from the front face of the wheel to create a smooth, shiny, metallic finish.
-
6. Clear Lacquering
A high-quality clear lacquer is applied to protect the freshly cut surface from corrosion and environmental damage. The wheel is then baked in a curing oven.
-
7. Final Check & Reassembly
The wheel is carefully inspected for quality, and the tyre is refitted, ready to go back on the car looking like new.
