Chrome Smoked Alloy Wheels – Step-by-Step Process
-
1. Inspection & Preparation
The wheel is inspected for any damage, and tyres are removed. The surface is then cleaned and prepped for finishing.
-
2. Stripping Old Coating
Any existing paint, lacquer, or contamination is removed through chemical stripping or blasting to expose the bare alloy.
-
3. Damage Repairs
Kerb damage or imperfections are repaired to ensure a flawless surface before the new finish is applied.
-
4. Base Coat Application
A bright chrome-effect base is applied—usually through a powder coating or specialist wet paint—to give the wheel its mirror-like foundation.
-
5. Smoked Tint Layer
A translucent dark smoke/tint coat is sprayed over the chrome base. This creates a unique, deep-toned finish with a reflective chrome shine and a subtle dark overlay.
-
6. Lacquering & Curing
A high-gloss clear lacquer is applied to seal and protect the smoked chrome finish. The wheel is then cured in an oven for long-lasting durability.
-
7. Final Inspection & Tyre Refit
After cooling, the wheel is inspected for consistency and quality. Tyres and valves are refitted, and the wheel is ready to go back on your vehicle.
